Can I do a book tour with $10,000?

I'm experimenting with a book tour right now. I'm thinking June. I'll start in New York, head to DC, then Atlanta, then over to Dallas. From Dallas to Denver to Phoenix to Vegas to LA to San Fran to Portland to Seattle to Vancouver to Omaha to Kansas City to St. Louis to Chicago.

Looks like the first set of flights--Chicago/New York/DC/Atlanta/Dallas is pretty reasonable. $1019.92 on United. I'm not going to do much digging on the flights or try to make them all direct today.

The next set of flights Dallas/Denver/Phoenix/Vegas/LA is also on United and shockingly only $482.48.

The next leg is LA/San Fran/Portland/Seattle/Vancouver is primarily on United, but dips a little into NWA territory. This flight is $1926.03.

Then the home stretch, after a month on the road, is Vancouver/Omaha/KC/St. L/Chicago. I will fly American on this tour of the Midwest for $849.37.

The trip takes six weeks and takes me all around the country. The flights total $4277.56. Then I have a per diem of $136.25 for the tour. That will cover hotel (always get a room that includes breakfast and a free airport shuttle) and lunches. I'll be dining with hosts in each city. Eating shabbat dinners with new families (it is afterall the book tour for Accidentally Jewish.) and with chapters of the Women for Reform Judaism. College committees will take me to their favorite burger joint. Transportation will be arranged.

While a $136.24 per diem doesn't sound like much, I think it is quite reasonable. There will be days when I spend very little money and days when I spend two days per diem. In the end, I think a book tour for $10,000.00 will be wonderful.
